Early Summer Festival
"Arthur's Strawberry Jam"

Beginning with merchants sidewalk sales back in the 1950's, Arthur has started every summer season with a festival and sale.

 

Then, for the last number of years, a large "Strawberry Social" fundraiser has been held, just south of Arthur at the Otto Center. Lots of strawberry pies and other good food attracts lots of visitors. And in fact, they are about to their pie making capacity.

 

Adding onto this strawberry theme this year, Arthur's  downtown  event takes a decidedly strawberry turn.  We're adding more strawberry stuff at every committee meeting.

 

Every vendor will include a strawberry theme to their displays or products. Every food stand will add strawberry items to their menu. And there will be plenty of fresh bulk strawberries available. Even the Methodist Church's  evening meal will add strawberries, somehow, to their Pork Chop Dinner

We'll have free strawberry give-aways all day long at the "Strawberry Tent," fun strawberry games for young and old alike, of course a strawberry pie eating contest (watch last years contest to the right), lots of locally made strawberry jams and jellies and plenty of fresh strawberries to eat here or take home.

 

Craft and food vendors, a large Kids Zone for the younger ones fun, and of course, the traditional merchants spring sales widen the fun for everyone. There are plenty of bargains on the street to be had, along with lots of fun for the whole family.

 

And what's with the Jam? There will be Strawberry jam to eat and purchase downtown, but now we're talking Music! It will be bluegrass of course. If you play, bring your instrument, or if you like to listen, come prepared to find picking and grinning  all over town. we expect to host hundreds of aficionados all over the downtown on Saturday.
