Arthur will host the first Central Illinois Outdoor Expo on Feb 24-25, 2012.

The location will be on the Moultrie-Douglas fair buildings just behind the Arthur High School, off of Rt 133 on the South edge of Arthur. Entry to the fairground is from either side (East or West) of the High School.  Signs will be posted along Rt 133 during the event. Food will be available on site and Pauly's has great BBQ just across the street.

We are planning our first show at this time to open the displays on Friday, 4pm to 7pm, and on Saturday 9am-5pm.

We now have commitments from gun dealers, archery shops, specialty archery manufacturers, taxidermists, specialty gun cabinets, aspen log furniture displays, seed plot dealers, angling guides, lure and call makers, decoy collectors, two boat dealers and the IDNR. All of our initial vendor contacts are 100% enthused and are already reaching out to their partners, suppliers and others to bring more vendors and displays. So there seems to be the need and opportunity for this kind of event in Central Illinois on this last weekend in February.

I have a large local list and we will very soon be contacting many more vendors and exhibitors and working to have seminars and more for this first year. We expect over 50 vendors. Our first building is filling up fast and we are now making plans to open an adjacent building just to the west.

We are just beginning to contact the angling related folks, but with nearby Lake Shelbyville being such an important fishery and recreation area, we expect significant involvement from this area also. We will follow the interest and recruit from any outdoor related topic but fishing and archery appear to be early leaders.

If you make or sell calls, lures or outdoors equipment of any kind, offer guide or any other outdoor related services, or are or know any "experts" that might do seminars. please let me know. If you need to promote any outdoor related attraction, give us a call. Campgrounds, trail ride stables, hunting preserves, call us. If you have any contacts that you can provide or ideas of what you might like to see us do here that will help us build this event, let me know with an email to the contact tab above or a call to 217-543-2766.
